Adopt-a-Village
Accountability for most people trying to do business or provide aid to Africa the issue of corruption and accountability is a challenge that is very difficult to overcome. Ensuring that the resources invested, proceeds, profits or financial aid reaches the people it is intended to help is very difficult indeed. One good example is the oil industry. Even though oil companies take most of the risk in oil exploration in Africa. Local governments receive between 60% to 80% or revenues according to the Washington Post. Despite this most revenue, as in many other places do not affect the lives of the majority of people living in oil producing countries. Most of it is lost to corruption and lack of accountability. Urbanization A far better approach would be to improve the lives of people in rural areas.
This hand on approach ensures accountability and proper resource management. Its effect on the National Economy would be staggering if done in sufficient numbers.

A great deal of money has been spent in Africa by governments, the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations on humanitarian services yet the majority of the problems persist. There are many reasons of this but two stand out more than most.
The perception in rural Africa is that moving to urban areas will improve ones lifestyle. Without access to safe drinking water, education, health care, employment and technology one can easily understand the temptation. The truth is that cities in Africa cannot absorb the migration from rural to urban areas. The result of migration is over crowding, health crisis, and the spread of AIDS, slums and poverty. It is impossible for any third world government to provide services under those conditions and it absorbs money that should be used for capital investment and development. 
The model of operation used by Adopt-A-Village In Africa is to offer a holistic service to an entire village. It is our intention to empower the village community to take responsibility for their own upliftment. If we, as an organization only assist selected individuals, it teaches an attitude of dependence. However, if we offer means to develop skills to an entire community, that village can become self-sufficient. We understand that this process of empowerment can take time, so we are committed to a village for a long term, working alongside, offering a helping hand..
